These Terms govern your access to and use of our website, web application, Telegram bots, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account, accepting related policies in the app, purchasing Pro access, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.

Read these Terms with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, DMCA Policy, and License (EULA). If documents conflict: these Terms control billing, refunds, and disputes; the EULA controls the software license grant; the Privacy Policy controls personal-data practices.

1. Who We Are

Simple Money Tracker is a personal-finance record-keeping service for individuals. We offer a Free plan and optional prepaid Pro access.

We are not a bank, payment institution, money transmitter, broker, accountant, tax advisor, or investment advisor. We do not link to your bank and we do not move your money.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live, if higher).
You must be able to form a binding contract.
If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts that appear underage, fraudulent, or abusive.

3. Accounts and Security

You may sign in with email and password, Google, and/or a passkey. You may enable TOTP 2FA, backup codes, and trusted devices.

You agree to:

provide accurate account information and keep your email reachable
keep passwords, passkeys, devices, 2FA codes, and recovery materials confidential
accept that activity on your account is your responsibility

We may require you to accept the current Privacy Policy before you continue using the app.

Single-session: a new sign-in on another device may sign out the previous device. This protects sync integrity; it is not a multi-device seat license.

We may suspend or terminate accounts used for fraud, abuse, or unlawful access.

4. Zero-Knowledge Vault

When the vault is enabled, financial and other vault content is encrypted on your device before upload. We host ciphertext. We do not receive your Master Password, Recovery Mnemonic, or usable Data Encryption Key.

We cannot reset your Master Password.
If you lose the Master Password, use the Recovery Mnemonic created at vault setup.
If you lose both, vault content is permanently unrecoverable. That is how Zero-Knowledge works, not a support failure.
You are responsible for backing up the mnemonic offline and for who can unlock your device.

An unlocked session on your device can read local caches. Lock the vault and protect the device.

Zero-Knowledge does not apply to account/billing metadata, avatars, or content you send in plaintext (AI, Telegram, support, reviews). Details are in the Privacy Policy.

5. The Service Is Not Financial Advice

The Service is a productivity and record-keeping tool.

Charts, categories, reminders, exports, and AI output are informational and may be wrong. You must verify anything that matters for taxes, compliance, or money decisions.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses, tax penalties, or missed opportunities from relying on the Service.

6. Plans, Trial, Gift, and Prepaid Pro

6.1 Free and Pro

Free includes core tracking. Pro may include higher AI quotas, Telegram logging, extra storage, and other features shown in the app or on the Pricing page.

We may change Free/Pro limits. If we remove a paid capability you already paid for, we will try to give reasonable notice or a fair alternative (time credit or similar) where required by law.

There are no team seats. One account is for one person.

6.2 How you pay (no auto-renew)

Paid Pro is a one-time PayPal checkout that adds a prepaid period to your account (for example 1, 6, or 12 months, as shown at checkout). Longer plans may include bonus months displayed at purchase.

Purchases do not auto-renew. We do not charge you again unless you buy another period.

Prices and bonus months on the Pricing page and at checkout control over any older marketing copy. Server-side prices are authoritative.

6.3 Trial and birthday gift

Trial: one-time, typically 7 days of Pro, no card required.
Birthday gift: optional program; if you opt in and activate a valid gift, typically 7 days of Pro.

Trials and gifts are not transferable, not cash, and may be withheld if we detect abuse.

6.4 When Pro ends

When the prepaid, trial, or gift period ends, the account returns to Free. Your data remains (subject to these Terms and the Privacy Policy). Pro-only features stop until you buy or activate Pro again.

Buying another period extends from the later of “now” or your current expiry, as implemented at capture time.

6.5 Taxes

Prices may be shown with or without tax. You are responsible for taxes unless the law says otherwise.

6.6 Refunds

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

prepaid Pro fees are non-refundable once the period has started
we do not refund unused days, unused features, or change-of-mind after access is granted
trials and gifts have no cash value

Mandatory consumer law still applies. If your jurisdiction requires a refund or withdrawal right in a specific case, we will comply.

6.7 Chargebacks

If you open a PayPal/bank dispute, we may pause Pro or the account until it is resolved. We may contest the dispute with order, login, and usage records. A successful chargeback may end Pro immediately.

7. User Content

User Content includes expenses, notes, files, receipts, messages, group data, reviews, feedback, and anything else you submit.

You keep ownership of your User Content.
You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, transmit, and display it only as needed to run the Service (including encrypted storage of vault ciphertext).
For Zero-Knowledge content we cannot read the plaintext; the license is to handle ciphertext and related metadata.
You confirm you have the right to submit the content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights.

Do not upload malware, infringing material, or secrets you should not store (bank passwords, full card PANs, government ID scans you are not allowed to share).

We may remove content or suspend accounts for violations. For encrypted files we often cannot inspect contents; we may rely on metadata, reports, and abuse patterns.

8. Groups and Messaging

If you use groups or 1-1 messages:

you are responsible for whom you invite and what you share
members with group keys can decrypt shared group content
leaving a group or deleting a message may not erase copies on other members’ devices
we cannot recover group keys or decrypt messages for you

9. Acceptable Use

You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In short, you must not:

break the law or infringe others’ rights
probe, bypass, or overload security, rate limits, or billing
scrape or harvest other users’ data
share an account to evade plan limits
abuse trials, gifts, AI, Telegram, or storage
reverse engineer the Service except where mandatory law allows

We may throttle, suspend, terminate, revoke Pro obtained by abuse, and report crime.

10. AI Features

Optional AI (natural-language expenses, receipt scan, note formatting, financial coach, FAQ chatbot) uses Google-hosted models (including Gemini / Vertex AI and Dialogflow CX).

Only the payload you send for that request is processed (after local decrypt if needed).
Outputs can be wrong. Review them before saving or acting.
Do not paste card numbers, PINs, passwords, or government IDs into AI or chat.
AI is not professional advice and is not a solely automated legal decision about you.

Google’s terms also apply to that processing.

11. Telegram

Linking Telegram is optional and generally a Pro feature.

Telegram’s terms and privacy policy apply to the Telegram app.
Messages you send our bot travel through Telegram, then to our webhook, in plaintext until we envelope-encrypt them. Do not send secrets.
You may unlink in the app. Unlinking does not delete Telegram’s own copies.
We may disable a bot link for abuse or security.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service depends on third parties, including Google (Firebase, AI, analytics if you consent), PayPal, Telegram, email delivery, Redis rate-limit cache, and optional weather / exchange-rate APIs.

Those providers have their own terms. An outage or policy change on their side can affect the Service. We are not responsible for third-party sites you open from our links.

13. Our Intellectual Property

The Service — software, design, trademarks, and docs — is owned by Simple Money Tracker and its licensors.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the Service for personal use (or internal use for your own organization) while your account is in good standing. The Service is licensed, not sold. See the License.

You may not copy, resell, or frame the Service except as we expressly allow.

14. Copyright Complaints

Because much user content is Zero-Knowledge ciphertext, we may be unable to inspect a file. We can still disable access, suspend an account, or ask the user to act.

15. Privacy and Cookies

Personal-data practices are in the Privacy Policy. Cookies and similar tech are in the Cookie Policy.

16. Availability, Beta, and Changes to the Service

We aim for a reliable Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, force majeure, and third-party outages happen.

We may add, change, or remove features (including beta or experimental tools) at any time. Beta features are provided as-is and may be withdrawn.

17. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. In-app account deletion starts a 7-day grace period during which you can sign in and restore. After that we permanently delete data we control, as described in the Privacy Policy. Vault ciphertext we delete cannot be restored; if you already lost your keys it was already unreadable.

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or the AUP, if your use creates legal, security, or operational risk, or if required by law or a payment provider.

On termination we may delete or restrict data as the Privacy Policy allows. Prepaid time generally is not refunded except where law requires.

18. Disclaimers (No Warranty)

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE".

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or secure operation.

Zero-Knowledge reduces what a server breach can reveal; it does not make you immune to device theft, phishing, or key loss.

19. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill
we are not liable for unrecoverable vault data after you lose your Master Password and Recovery Mnemonic
our total liability for claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim and (b) USD 50

Some places do not allow certain limits. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited (for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, where that rule applies).

20. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Simple Money Tracker against claims, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from:

your misuse of the Service
your User Content
your breach of these Terms, the AUP, or the law
your infringement of someone else’s rights

21. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The Last Updated date at the top is the version date.

For material changes we will give reasonable notice on the website, in the app, or by email. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and, if you wish, delete your account.

22. Governing Law and Disputes

The Service is operated from Vietnam and offered globally.

Default rule: unless mandatory consumer law where you live says otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, and courts in Vietnam have jurisdiction.

You may have non-waivable rights under local consumer law (including in the EEA/UK). Those rights come first if they conflict with this section.

23. General

Entire agreement. These Terms plus the policies linked above are the agreement for the Service.
Severability. If one clause is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a right once, we can still enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in a merger, sale, or reorganization.
Force majeure. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control (including infrastructure or provider outages).
No third-party beneficiaries except as these Terms expressly say.
Language. The English version controls if translations differ.
